#Moon Pi and Mountain Shadow
A Full Moon occurs at 3.14 radians from the Sun, or Pi radians (180 degrees) in ecliptic longitude. On March 9, 2020, a full Moon rose as the Sun set, captured from Tenerife opposite the setting Sun and Teide's shadow. On March 14, 2025, at 06:55 UTC, it aligns again during a total #lunar #eclipse.

Scientists on high alert for massive eruption as Washington's largest active volcano gets rattled by earthquakes
Nestled in south-central Washington, approximately 55 miles (88.51 kilometres) southwest of Yakima, Mount Adams is considered a 'high-threat' volcano—but not necessarily because of an impending eruption. The volcano, as per a Daily Mail report, has the potential for catastrophic landslides and fast-moving lahars. These mudflows, which can surge downhill at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour, pose a significant risk to communities in the region.

Jan Mayen volcano (on a tiny island near Svalbard).
Not very active. The flow out of the volcano caldera is actually a glacier!
Big earthquake there this week. Apparently only itinerant scientists and expeditions to the island. Learned today it's a "mini continent" (ie not connected to any major continent, alone unto itself).

Bon, et cette prochaine éruption dans le Sundhnúkagígar, c'est pour quand ?
Le volcanologue Þorvaldur Þórðarson nous dit qu'elle devrait avoir lieu autour du 20 mars prochain.

The ash plume from Vulcan de Fuego in Guatemala this morning exhibits SE'ly winds at altitude but NE'ly winds near the surface. It's a neat display with thin ashfall being dragged toward the Pacific once it falls to the lower level of the atmosphere.
Beerenberg volcano, which is not named for beer, but is apparently named for "bear".
