Hey guys, I'm new to
I have this hardware:

  • 500gb hdd
  • 8gb ram
  • Intel i3I plan to selfhost a mastodon instance, Discourse, bookstack, etc... with Yunohost.I can install and try everything locally in a VM. But i don't know how to redirect the dns.What about a vps?

@Xhuul I would set up nginx with proxy passes and subdomains for each myself.

@Xhuul easiest way would be a VPS with Caddy + @tailscale , you have the installs in your local server and proxy all dns sub domains through caddy, calling back home using tailnet. Beware, mastodon is heavy read/writes and you are using a spinning rust HDD, may slow down everything a bit

@Xhuul I use ddclient to connect to the dynamic DNS service from my hosting provider. I'd share my wiki page on the setup, but my Yunohost is currently down from a dying HDD.
