On this day in 1984 the pilot episode of "Challenge of the GoBots" premiered!
The series was animated by Hanna-Barbara and featured the voice talents of Lou Richards, Bernard Erhard, Frank Welker, Marilyn Lightstone, Arthur Burghardt, Bob Holt, Rene Auberjonois, Peter Cullen, Phil Hartman, and many others.
Since 1992 GoBots have been part of the Transformers I.P. expanding a once fierce rivalry into an extended family.
Before we move on to our next series, we’re looking back at The Transformers One We Have At Home – not “War Dawn” (yet), but the historic story of the falling-out between Leader-1 and Cy-Kill of the GoBots! Were these two old friends ever as gay as Orion Pax and D-16? Which writer did his history homework? And why were there flying monkeys? Meet us in the Hall of Columns this week for “Et Tu, Cy-Kill”!

At TFCon Toronto, I bought a $5 (CND!) Zod from GoBots that was not guaranteed to work and had some obvious battery contact corrosion, but his tires were intact and his stickers were pretty good. Also, $5. I finally got some C batteries and sure enough, his electronics don't seem to work. I can probably fix him, but taking him fully apart requires me to cut his perfectly nice stickers, since they're over a seam. So now I have to decide if that's worth it.

Finally dug out my Challenge of the GoBots miniseries DVD and yeah, the version MeTV Toons is working with is *at least* 1080p, maybe better. It looks significantly sharper than the DVD. Might need to see if there's a way to save them off Frndly's DVR thing.
